In With The New…

Some great things are happening in 2013!  I’ll be training, racing, and playing my way through the year.

2013 was kicked off for me with THIS interview with Garden Variety Triathlon‘s Jon Smith.

Garden Variety TriathlonWe are both training for an Ironman (me IMLP, and he IMOO) and have changed our diets considerably  and eating a high fat diet with no sugar and no grains (for us both, it really started with listening to Vinnie Tortorich‘s podcast which I recommend!)

Take a listen (HERE), I hope you enjoy it!

2013 Plans

I have the rest of my 2013 season mapped out, I am really excited about it!

2/3/2013 – Mid Winter 10 Mile Classic - I love this race!! My PR here is 1:25.  I am not sure I will beat it, I am shooting to finish somewhere around 1:30.

Also, I am dying to know what Manny’s sign is going to say at mile 9 this year.

3/24/2013 – Eastern States 20 Miler

I have heard great things about this race.  I am running this as a training run, mostly just for fun.

3/29/13-4/07/13 – 10th Mountain Huts - I love this trip.  It is a backcountry ski trip, and it is the BEST!  I haven’t been for a few years, and this year John is going AND we are going to be heading in to my favorite Hut, Jackal!

Here is a photo I took from the porch of that hut in 2007 as I was sipping on some coffee:

Waking up to powdery bliss!

5/19/2013 – Sugarloaf Marathon - I love this race.  I know.  Probably most coaches would CRINGE at the thought of a person running a marathon 2 months before an Ironman.  But I am going to live dangerously.

Why?

Because I really need want a new sticker.   If you are a Sugarloafer, you will understand.

Sugarloaf Marathon

Best. Sticker. Ever.

6/20/13-6/23/13 – Fireman Ironman Camp

This is just FUN!  I am going to Lake Placid for the weekend to swim in Mirror Lake, bike 2 loops of the course, and run 1 loop of the course over the weekend.  I did this last time I raced LP and it was a BLAST.

Plus it is really nice to know you are not 100% alone out there.  I am really looking forward to this!

7/28/2013 – Ironman Lake Placid

I love this race.  I am SO excited to race this course again, this time I hope to keep my pants on the entire time.

In 2011 I finished in 15:02…I am hoping to break 15, I have a dream time (that is if everything goes perfectly) of 13:something.

…after that, who knows?  I am pretty sure August will consist of lots of playing on the river, and September/October will consist of lots of hiking.

If anyone is going to be at any of these races, let me know (click the email link on the top right of the page, tweet me, FB me, leave me a note here) I would love to have a meet-up!

What are your training/racing/playing plans for 2013?

I can understand wanting a new sticker. A couple years ago I fell off my bike and tore my Waterfront Marathon shirt . My hip is turning blue, my arm looks like it’s been shredded with a cheese grater, and all I do is panic over the torn shirt. It was a lot of work getting the replacement.

Today my daughter asked to run the Yonge St 10k with me! I’m back to Mont Tremblant in August.

Good luck with your racing year. Hope you stay healthy and injury free!
