So it goes without saying that I am well into my taper.
I am so cool with that, I love taper. I don’t get this madness I hear about, I actually love having the free time. I was pretty stoked to screw off this weekend after a 30 mile bike ride.
Must be why I am a back of middle of packer.
Because I didn’t have an 8 hour bike ride on Saturday, I got to get on the river I love for the first time this summer and go white water rafting with my favorite people…my core group of friends who have all been so supportive of me being absent from their lives as I train, train, train.
Don’t worry guys, I will see you on the river a whole lot in August. Here are a few pictures, the first one makes me feel really short.
To see pictures of us in the rapids, click HERE (worth checking out) and yes our raft was a little wee boat, we didn’t even flip it.
Today I had an hour run (only an hour!) so I headed down to my parents and hung out on the river with my father. We went snorkeling which is really fun, you see lots of fish and my dad’s dog Kenny (appropriately named after the Kennebec River) swims along with us, it is pretty funny.
For me it is really nice to get away from only training for triathlon and getting in some of the other things and spend time with the people that I love. It recharges my mind and body pre-race, just as I am getting really tired of not having free time.
I can’t believe that in less than 2 weeks, I will be toeing up to the line for an Ironman. Makes me want pee my pants just a little.
