This is my mom:
Today is her first official day of retirement after an amazing career. Mom worked with the families of people who were murdered, those left surviving after the sudden, unexpected, unfathomable loss of a loved one.
She has had numerous articles written about her and her career and has won both local and national awards for her work with survivors of violent crimes. In one of my favorites, she was described as “The best friend you hope you never need.”
I believe that retirement is just a step to the side for mom, as I know her passion for helping surviving families will not let her stay away. She will continue to be involved in helping survivors, just in a different capacity. That is what I think anyway.
Mom, I am so proud of you and all the amazing things you have done! Congratulations on your retirement, enjoy your time, and can you make me some of that chocolate peanut butter fudge?
