We were spoiled by the “January Thaw” and had a week of 30 degrees. I love running in that weather. There is snow everywhere, it felt like spring and things were good.
But the honeymoon is wayyyyy over.
This week we have a few days where the HIGH is predicted to be -10 and the low is -someting scary.
I guess it just adds to the mental challenge of getting your butt outside in the dark to run a few miles. I think if I didn’t have to do this inconvient thing called work and could run in the middle of the day, it wouldn’t seem as bad.
The upside is, I think I am going to set a new cold running PR (current PR is -20.)
And I know, most folks (these are what I call “the ones with brains”) would probably use a treadmill in this weather, but I don’t have that option really (and also I am not that smart).
The good news is, you can dress for any condition even if it is kinda hard.
In truth, my best runs are always my colder weather runs, the ones I didn’t really want to do at the start. I come away from the run feeling like I have really conqured something.
So I’ll just have to buck up and get my tush out there.
Which is fine really, because I have to work outside in it anyway.
After my run of course.
