My plan was to come back from vacation, guns a-blazing, training my butt off.
That didn’t happen.
I spent the first two days of this week more sick that I have ever been.
Holy hell. It was bad.
I have not had my butt kicked like that in a while. I missed almost 2 days of work (which is always nice when you are coming back from a week vacation) and a lot of workouts.
I couldn’t eat anything solid for almost 3 full days. I have never been sick like that before (yes I need to say this twice).
When I finally came back into work (still not eating, but at least not with a 102 temperature) everyone told me how great I looked, that I must be at my fighting weight.
Yeah, thanks guys, I call it the stomach flu diet. Pretty sure it isn’t sustainable.
By the end of the week I was starting to feel better, a little stronger. I was eating a little more. I did a few workouts but they were completely half-assed because I had no food in me to speak of.
I did an easy trainer ride and decided that this weekend I was DEFINITELY going ride outside.
Then this happened:
This pretty much killed any desire I had to bike outside. I almost just went back to bed for the weekend.
The good news is, I found this little promise of spring:
So I switched things around and ended up doing a 12 mile run on Saturday instead of my bike ride in hopes that I could get outside on Sunday.
The run felt OK, I think I was still pretty messed up from being sick.
When I got done with it I wondered if I really should do the Sugarloaf Marathon in May. I know it is marginally smart to do it anyway, and there is a 15k the same day that would beat me up a whole lot less.
I am going to do another long run and see how it goes.
Today I got up thinking about getting outside to bike. I looked out the window and it was sleeting.
So I ended up here. For HOURS:
SO I am hoping next week goes a little better as far as training.
And eating! I like to eat.
